RECIPE

Taiwanese Sausage Black Pepper Green Bean Casserole

If we’re being honest, we can skip the turkey and just dive into all the Thanksgiving side dishes! Green Bean Casserole is not always the first pick, but when you make it from scratch it can be so delicious. We’re giving it a twist by making a homemade Sizzling Black Pepper Sauce gravy and throwing in some sweet smoky Taiwanese sausage.

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F
  2. Boil green beans for 2-3 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Over medium heat, cook the sliced Taiwanese sausage until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, melt the butter. Sauté the shallot for 1 minute. Add Everyday Garlic Oil and Sizzling Black Pepper Sauce stir, and cook for 2 minutes. Sprinkle the flour and stir until combined. This will create the roux to thicken your sauce. Add the chicken broth and simmer for 3 minutes. Turn off the heat and add the half-and-half. Stirring occasionally, cook until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the green beans and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in 1/4 cup of fried onions and the Taiwanese sausage.
  6. Pour the green beans mixture to a baking dish and generously sprinkle mire crispy fried onions on top.
  7. Bake until bubbly and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven and enjoy!

Cook, create, kai dong!
